Refraction

Refraction explores the meeting point between memory, place, and perception. Inspired by Northern Norway’s coastal architecture, the work transforms a familiar boathouse into something quietly unsettling. The building remains recognisable, yet subtle details encourage a second look, inviting the viewer to question what is seen and what is imagined.

Growing up in Northern Norway has given me a deep appreciation for the landscapes and communities shaped by the sea. Much of my work begins with familiar places and everyday observations, reinterpreted through a contemporary graphic visual language that balances documentary roots with imagination.

Rather than telling a fixed story, Refraction leaves room for interpretation. The familiar becomes unfamiliar, allowing each viewer to discover their own narrative within the image.
